Who We Are
Where We Have Come From

Around 50 years ago, God called a few families to be true to his word, break camp and move out from where they were, in the beginnings of what was to become Bilton Evangelical Church. The first meetings were in a home with about thirty people, then quickly moved to a local school in Bilton, Rugby. The current building - originally the village school - first became available as a youth centre, and then became BEC's church building in 1979.

Mosaic Coffee Shop across the road from the church was opened in 2009 as an outreach to the local community, with the church offices above. In 2014, a local church donated their building on the nearby Woodlands estate to BEC, and a group of people are committed to using it as their base for worship and outreach. Through it all, BEC has tried to remain true to the original calling: to be Bible-believing, led by the Spirit, with God at the centre, while loving one another and reaching out to the local community.

What We're About

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor ....." Isaiah 61:6

The verses in Isaiah 61:1-3 are right at the heart of what we believe God has called us to as a church. By the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we look to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, anticipating Kingdom transformation as we do. We see our primary task in this to be raising up and releasing of passionate and radical disciples of Jesus - men, women and young people who 'change the geography around them'. As such, we are not looking to gather a crowd, or build a name for ourselves or our church, and we recognise that, at times, this journey together will be costly and will call for commitment.
We believe that this is what Biblical discipleship looks like and, as such, is the call on us as a community of faith, and is the need of the hour to bring healing to our very broken world.

We want to see transformation in Rugby and beyond, as everyone follows Jesus.
